Kephalios, the French medtech company, has announced the first human implantation of Kalios, its new device developed to improve outcomes in surgical mitral valve repair.
The adjustable mitral ring was initially designed and developed at theCHUV, with pre-clinical studies conducted by Professor Tozzi’s team, and its development was subsequently continued in France with the support of Kephalios. This device enables the correction of residual or recurrent mitral regurgitation following surgery, without the need for the patient to undergo a second operation. This procedure is regarded as a major advance in the non-invasive treatment of mitral regurgitation.
The exploitation rights for this invention are managed by the ‘PACTT’, the joint technology transfer office of the ‘UNIL’ and the ‘CHUV’.
