The joint service of UNIL and CHUV dedicated to the commercialization of research results is celebrating its 25th anniversary and changing its name: PACTT is becoming Knowledge Transfer UNIL CHUV.
The University of Lausanne (UNIL) and the Vaud University Hospital (CHUV) are pleased to announce that their joint service dedicated to the commercialization of research results is changing its name: PACTT is now Knowledge Transfer UNIL CHUV. This new name more clearly and dynamically reflects the service’s mission: to bridge the gap between academic research and its tangible impact on society.
The announcement was made during the department’s 25th-anniversary celebration, which took place on Wednesday, May 14, in the new SE-C auditorium on the Biopôle campus, attended by an enthusiastic community of researchers, startups, and business representatives. The event highlighted a quarter-century of collaboration and innovation, while looking toward the future of knowledge transfer within the Lausanne and Swiss ecosystems.
A New Award to Recognize Innovation
As part of this anniversary celebration, Knowledge Transfer UNIL CHUV launched the first Valorization Award, recognizing the most promising innovation project led by young researchers from UNIL and CHUV.
The award was presented to Yanheng Guo for the CapnoMAD project, an innovative medical device designed to improve the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. Developed at CHUV in collaboration with Professors Martin Broome, Raphaël Heinzer, and Dominique Pioletti (EPFL), CapnoMAD combines two advanced technologies to monitor and treat sleep-related breathing disorders. This project also received a CHF 100,000 InnoTREK grant, enabling it to continue its development toward clinical application.
With a new name and a renewed vision, Knowledge Transfer UNIL CHUV reaffirms its mission to foster meaningful partnerships between research and society. The department looks forward to continuing to support innovators—for the next 25 years and beyond.
